UK Music Industry recognised by the Office of National Statistics

Our thanks go to Mark Rose for his determined afforts in researching and supplying data to the Office of National Statistics (ONS) in order to bring about official acknowledgement of the music recording industry’s contribution to the UK economy.

Producers, recording studios and studio staff are now recognised as CORE industry components, and separated from the previous confusing cluster of sound recording elements. The master recording is now a CORE element.

This message has gone loud and clear to MP’s and press alike…we should be proud! We trigger remunerations elsewhere via CORE – master recordings.

Paul Williams’ MW article is well worth reading…a very accurate summary.
