The Music Producers Guild (UK) was well represented at this event last night by Tony Platt. Phil Harding, Mark Rose, Andrew Hunt, Mick Glossop and Stevan Krakovic.

The event was set up to introduce the new crop of government MP's to representatives of the various sections of the industry; record companies, publishing, management, etc. - and record producers.

Held on the boardwalk roof-top of the Inn On The Park restaurant in St. James Park, the event was a golden opportunity, effectively exploited by Andy Heath and Feargal Sharkey, chairman and CEO respectively of UK Music, to illustrate to those MP's who had been previously unware just how valuable the music industry is to the British economy, both in tax revenue and as an employer and major exporter.

It was a very sociable event, with plentiful refreshments, and entertainment courtesy of Dan Gillepsie, singer and principal song-writer of the successful UK band, The Feeling.

Opportunites for speading the MPG word were siezed, and we were able to update several key UK players of recent MPG developments, including the Credits Campaign; Martin Mills, owner of Beggars Banquet Records, Jon Webster, CEO of the Music Managers Forum, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, and Hal Ritson and Matthew Brown of the Featured Aritsts Coalition.
