MPG delighted at BBC6 Music Decision
July 05, 2010As Chairman of the Music Producers Guild, I can honestly state all our producer and engineer members at the MPG are delighted with the reflective change of heart from the BBC Trust to now decide not to ditch the great and wonderfully unique BBC6 music brand. The statement and words published today from the BBC Trust clearly stating 'the case has not been met for closure' are indeed music to all our ears and the ears of the many bands and artists whom have appeared and supported the diversity of UK talent breaking through and appearing on so many the BBC6 music sessions. Long may it reign as it clearly does so already!
(The MPG had been extremely opposed to any idea of any BBC6 music closure)
Steve stated "The reprieve of 6 Music is fantastic news. By championing talent and originality, 6 Music provides the perfect antidote to the bland outpourings of so much of today's media. We need stations like this and are delighted that the BBC Trust has rejected plans to close it."
