Born in Durban South Africa, Nicky grew up in a world of Tribal Dance and African Music. When Rock n Roll reached this remote part of the world it had a profound influence on his senses and when the family returned to the UK Nicky launched himself into a desperate bid for stardom. Of course he failed though not without some pretty close calls.Bill Wyman discovered Nicky's band The End and the group toured the UK as support to the Rolling Stones. The Band evolved into a Heavy Rock Band called Tucky Buzzard and they toured the US with Grand Funk Railroad and Deep Purple. Before giving up life on the road Nicky toured the UK playing keyboards with David Bowie as a Spider From Mars. Using his experience gained from many hours in the studio Nicky began a successful career as Staff Producer/AandR Manager first at Polydor records in the early 70's then a 10 year run at CBS Records where he Produced among others The Nolans ( 2 million album sales) Barbara Dickson, Bonnie Tyler, XTC and Mr Big. On a completely different tip his experience enabled him to Produce many Original Cast Albums including 'Annie'.In 1984 he finally branched out on his own and Produced such varied artists as Pedrito Fernadez ( Mexican Teen Superstar), Matt Moffitt ( Australian Rock Artist) and with Tony Hiller he wrote and produced one of the first classical cross-over albums with Andy Williams.In 1986 he discovered Bros for whom he Wrote and Produced all their hits including 'When Will I Be Famous' and 'I Owe You Nothing'. Their albums sold in excess of 5 million copies worldwide.More successes followed with 'Let Loose' whose single 'Crazy For You' was double platinum was their Album. Nicky's AandR experience helped him discover Ant and Dec for whom he Wrote and Produced their biggest hit album 'Psyche' which went double platinum and spawned 'Let's Get Ready to Rhumble / Why Me? / Eternal Love / If I Give You My Number and Our Radio Rocks'.In the late 90's he signed boyband 'Code Red' to his Production Company through Polydor where the act had massive success in the Pacific Rim.He also developed another boyband 'Triple 8' for Polydor and Chris Herbert / Craig Logan.
In 2001 Nicky returned to AandR at Sony Music where he signed platinum act 'The OperaBabes' and Dame Shirley Bassey for her 50th Anniversary Album. He also Produced the 'Strictly Come Dancing' album from the BBC Hit Series featuring Bruce Forsyth. He has also Produced the most recent album by Shakin' Stevens and worked with Julio Iglesias on his latest English Language Album.
As a Publisher he achieved massive success with Darius 'Colourblind' which was No 1 in the UK, Sinead Quinn with her No2 Single 'I Can't Breakdown'. He also Produced the Charity Album by Katie Price and Peter Andre ' A Whole New World'.Current projects are ' LoveShy' recent No 1 dance act, new ElectroPop act 'Punch and Judys' punchandjudys.com and he is completing work on a Major project, which is a musical based on the life of Marc Bolan due for 2010.Nicky was a former Chairman of the Music Producers Guild and has served as a Writer Director on the PRS Board for the last 13 years.
