Meet with Chris Estes the designer during NAB this year. It automatically time stamps Pro Tools recordings to remove the delay caused by the record/replay gap in the tape machine that you track through. The hardware is just a monitor switcher that duplicates what essentially is inside a traditional analogue console (like an SSL!). Costs about $10k US plus the tape machine of your choice. if you just want to overdub you can use a two track but the monitor unit is designed for 24 channels so primarily for tracking. I believe an early version was demoed at British Grove Studios. It is extremely well thought out and Chris, the designer, very committed to the system. He is from Nashiville.

Hmmm - seems like a lot of money for a monitor switching box and a simple plug-in.

It is picking up quite a few converts in the states. The price seems to have come down - $7495.

Hmmm....still quite pricey, though

I've been recording through a tape machine straight into tools for some time now. Only drag is, no punch-ins. Do I want to spend £4k for the ability to do that......? As far s I know only the Motor museum has one in the UK. Anyone else have any views on this box?
