I've been producing, engineering and mixing for over 25 years, initially with new wave and punk bands such as Magazine, Public Image Ltd, Penetration, The Skids and The Ruts. I had further success collaborating with The Waterboys, Furniture, The Wonder Stuff, Frank Zappa, Ian Gillan, John Lee Hooker, Lloyd Cole and Paul Brady.

I have a 20 year working relationship with Van Morrison, covering 17 albums, and recently I recorded and mixed "Astral Weeks, Live at The Hollywood Bowl" for CD and DVD release, for which I received the "Best Live DVD of 2010" award from the Music Producers Guild (UK).

Current projects include mixing the new studio album for Lloyd Cole; "Broken Record", producing new UK singer-songwriter, Ariel, mixing Paul Carrack's new album "A Different Hat", and producing a new album for Florida-based band, Sparkydog & Friends. Their new single, "Red Light", which I produced, is currently in the top 40 most added tracks in the USA commercial radio AC format.

My work has also featured many left-field and ground-breaking artists including Tangerine Dream, Xmal Deutschland, Manuel Göttsching (Ashra) and Southern Death Cult.

The music industry is changing rapidly, and there is a whole range of talented artists who are "doing it for themselves", due to decreasing access to record company funding.

I have built my own analogue/digital studio in order to work on interesting production and mixing projects which would previously have been impossible, due to the high cost of renting commercial studios. I specialise in mixing music tracks for un-signed artists, and those who self-produce.

I see absolutely no reason to upgrade from PT 8 HD to PT 9 HD. It would provide me with:

More aux tracks 256 > 512 - unnecessary

More busses 128 > 256 - unnecessary

I stumbled upon these photos in the house the other day. I have no information about this studio or the two guys in the second photo. Does anyone recognise it (or them)?

Check these websites for free RTAS plug-ins. I can't guarantee they will be compatible with your system, but I haven't had problems with mine (PT8 HD3/Mac Intel). July 20, 2009 @ 08:18 AM  |  show full post  |  0 comments
